FAQs for healthcare providers

So how does In2health work?

The purpose of In2health is to unleash the power of prevention to save lives, we automate complex clinical workflows to improve remuneration and care efficiency for GPs and practice nurses and to improve patient outcomes.

Through leveraging digital powered by AI, we provide sophisticated, customisable pre-visit assessments, automated analysis and provision of recommendations designed to optimise the patient experience and to make life easier for clinicians.

How reliable and credible are the risk calculations?

Very! The algorithms incorporate 128 risk and protective factors and provide an analysis of lifetime risk. These have been validated against all existing chronic disease risk calculators. Find out more here.

How are reliable are the recommendations provided to patients?

Very! We pride ourselves on providing recommendations on access to further screening, check ups and lifestyle change in line with the latest evidence and Australian guidelines.

How do you keep my patients data secure?

All information we receive from individuals is stored in highly secure servers in Australia to prevent unauthorised use or access. Credit card information is encrypted before any transmission and is not stored by us on our servers.

Data collected through the assessment is initially stored with our Australian survey provider, within 72 hours it is deleted and transferred securely to In2health within the “ServiceNow” platform. This cloud based ‘software as a service’ platform as a very strong global credibility. Its infrastructure employs multiple progressive security layers and rigorous security practices to protect data.

What is the ‘Are you OK?’ check in? How reliable is it?

This is an additional short assessment that we send to anyone who is identified to be at moderate or high risk of future mental health issues. The ‘Are you OK?’ check in is absolutely confidential. It provides a detailed analysis of where individuals are at now and we provide recommendations on some fantastic resources that are available to support them wherever they may be at. Read more

The ‘Are you OK?’ check in includes questions about current symptoms including suicidal ideation and intent, concomitant substance use and social supports to assist with risk stratification.

How do you manage patients who might be at high risk?

We are very clear that we have duty of care for any risk assessment that is undertaken in the In2health Health Check. For any individual who is identified to be at high lifetime risk of a chronic disease we provide detailed information on how these conditions may present, on actions they should take if these symptoms occur and encouragement to access appropriate screening and lifestyle changes.

We have designed a specific follow up for individuals identified to be at moderate or high risk of mental health issues given the high prevalence of these conditions in our community (please see information on the ‘Are you OK?’ check in.

How about high suicide risk?

If an individual self identifies to have suicidal thoughts or intent we will attempt to contact them directly to ensure that they are linked in with appropriate care. If we are unable to contact the individual and we have concerns about their welfare we will contact acute mental health services. Individuals are advised of our duty of care when undertaking the ‘Are you OK?’ assessment.

How will you make my clinicians’ jobs easier?

We understand that primary care is stretched at the moment. Chronic under resourcing and workforce shortages have negatively impacted the preventive care that primary care can deliver. National statistics demonstrate that the majority of Australians don’t access the recommended preventive screening.

We’re here to make your doctors and nurses jobs easier by enabling a person centred, comprehensive assessment and analysis of risk of the 17 most common chronic conditions for all of your patients. We then provide a concise summary for your clinicians that acts as a clinical decision support tool based on the best available evidence.

This means that clinicians can focus on the now while we do some forecasting about the future, and provide evidence based recommendations about how to reduce risk and optimise health.

We are working on integrating with common primary care electronic medical records to ensure that everyone has access to the information they need, when they need it.

How do you improve remuneration for my clinic and ‘make prevention profitable’?

By enabling an automated comprehensive risk assessment and analysis for all of your patients we pride ourselves on identifying individuals who are at risk to support early intervention and prevention. This also means that we can efficiently identify who may be eligible to access MBS preventive care item numbers.

Based on analysis of national Medicare data compared to prevalence of risk factors for chronic disease and diagnosed chronic conditions in our population we have been able to estimate that over $1B preventive care MBS item numbers were not billed in the 2020-2021 financial year. These include heart health checks, 40-49yo health assessments for individuals at high risk of type 2 diabetes and 45-49yo health checks for individuals at risk of chronic disease as well as mental health risk assessment. In2health provides a concise summary to support quality care, billing and better patient outcomes by linkages with useful resources.

I’m concerned about you providing referrals to my patients. Won’t that impact continuity of care?

We do offer to provide referrals, this is to support individuals to access recommended screening in line with guidelines as efficiently as possible. We don’t like fragmentation of care and so will always seek out consent for their GP to be cc’d on any referral.

We do provide follow up for pathology, radiology and specialist referrals which allows us to recalculate health scores and to encourage individuals to discuss with their GP where appropriate.

Is this going to create more work for me and my team?

Our mission is to reduce the workload for GPs and practice nurses by providing a comprehensive digital chronic disease risk assessment, provision of recommendations and a clinical summary including prompts to bill MBS item numbers, when criteria have been met through the Health Check. The In2health platform essentially provides a prevention clinical decision support tool for primary care clinicians.

We are keen to work with practices to identify which workflows we can support you with, including provision of reminders directly to patients for chronic disease screening and follow up recalls.

What information do I see as a doctor or practice nurse?

Each individual is provided with a brief clinical summary that outlines any MBS item numbers that they may be eligible for, their level of risk for each condition and clinical recommendations based on best practice guidelines. Essentially this is a prevention clinical decision support tool. Currently this will provided in the form of a PDF but in future we will integrate this in the practice’s electronic medical record.

What is the return on investment for my clinic?

We offer a graded pricing model based on how many individual patients are engaged with using the platform to improve their health. We estimate based on national data that practices could access an additional $129 000 annually per 3.7 FTE GPs through In2health identifying risk and therefore eligibility for preventive care MBS item numbers across the whole patient population. Please contact us if you would like to discuss this further.
